I tell stories through paintings. So, tell me: What do you see?

Sven Oyntzen (alias SHO) creates paintings that make you pause, reflect, and connect. He studied at the Vrije Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten in The Hague (1990–1993) before seeking an international career in creative marketing. Now focusing on storytelling through his paintings.

As a product of the 80s, raised in Germany during the end of the Cold War and amidst the rise of powerful tech conglomerates, SHO's perspective is shaped by a unique tension: a recognition of technological progress tempered by an awareness of the price we pay for it... our very freedom.

With Love.Hate.Need.Repeat., he invites viewers to consider how far they have surrendered their autonomy to digital forces. He explores perception as a fragile and contested space in an era shaped by screens, algorithms, and artificial intelligence.

His work opens a space to experience modern culture and technology as they intersect with the inner self. It encourages viewers to confront their own experiences, question familiar patterns, and discover new perspectives.

Drawing on both classical philosophy and contemporary digital culture, SHO raises fundamental questions about autonomy, attention, and freedom.

Watch and listen to the story. For the best experience, switch the sound on.
