Love.Hate.Need.Repeat.
paintings and reflections by Sven Oyntzen
In the series Love.Hate.Need.Repeat., Sven Oyntzen (SHO) explores perception as a fragile and contested space in an era dominated by screens, algorithms, and artificial intelligence. The works reveal the tension between looking and truly seeing, between attention and numbness. Figures absorbed in their smartphones are set against figures who reclaim their gaze; in contrast between passivity and awareness.
Inspired by classical philosophy and contemporary digital culture, SHO raises fundamental questions about autonomy, attention, and freedom. The exhibition invites the viewer to slow down, look again, and become conscious of the choices they make in how reality is perceived.
Love.Hate.Need.Repeat. encourages viewers to confront their own experiences, question familiar patterns, and discover new perspectives.
What if this is all real?

Echo's fate
by SHO, acrylic on canvas, 24 x 30 cm
In the quiet of the night, her face is illuminated only by the glow of her phone. The light does not connect her to others; it isolates her. What should be a portal to connection becomes a mirror of inner conflict.
She despises the device in her hands, yet cannot stop looking.
